A note addressed to Sarah Sophia Banks from Princess Elizabeth. Inscribed: Sophia Zarah [sic] Banks. Genius, good sense, and Friendship kind, Must ever bring you, to my mind. Eliza
The sheet of paper has been folded in half, with one edge folded again, to make it the right size to fit in a notebook (RCIN 1047678.b).
Sarah Sophia Banks was the sister of Joseph Banks. Sophia lived with her brother and sister-in-law, Lady Dorothea, until her death in 1818. The way in which the paper has been folded suggests that the note was not originally intended for Lady Bank's album but was instead added at a later date, possibly after Sophia's death. -
