Card or quadrille table of oak veneered in walnut with strips of cross banding round the edge of the top and on the sides. Straight circular legs splaying into simple pad feet. A shelf slides out for storage. Concertina hinged back legs, folding top covered with green velvet with studding round the edge. There are four circular walnut 'trays' on each of the corners when opened and four sunken oval walnut bowls set into the top on each side of the table.
Provenance
Several tables of this description are recorded in the accounts from 1727-33. They reflect the vogue of that period when the new card game of quadrille was established. Acquired by George Prince of Wales circa 1730.
