A whole-size glass plate negative of the Ante-Throne Room, Windsor Castle, with oak carvings by Grinling Gibbons, a large landscape painting on the wall and a second smaller landscape painting above the doorframe. There are two marble busts on plinths, three candelabra with paper lanterns on marble plinths, a circular table with lion legs in gilt (RCIN 35315), moved from the Rubens Room; a pier table with an Oriental jar; also two chairs.
The original sleeve was labelled 'Set A, Anti-Throne Room, no. 34'. The negative has a painted red negative number 10580-79. and a second label in pencil 'Anti Throne Room'. This negative is part of a collection of negatives of interiors of Windsor Castle, photographed for Queen Mary by Country Life about 1931, and executed by Henry Dixon & Son Ltd (probably the son, Thomas Dixon). A number of photograph albums were presented to King George V and Queen Mary between 1931 and 1933 (RCINs 2100898, 2104686, 2935815, 2865471). The negatives appear to have been presented to the Royal Collection sometime after 1933 (see also 2407758-2407782, 2410999-2411001, 2407799-2407814, 2407815-2407846, 2407847-2407869).
