Photograph showing Queen Victoria's coffin draped with state robes, Osborne House, 1901. A Guardsman can be seen in the background, back turned. Queen Victoria died at Osborne on 22 January 1901, aged 81, and she was laid in State for 10 days until 1 February when her coffin was taken by Royal Yacht Alberta to Windsor, where her funeral took place on 2 February. After two days of lying-in-state in the Albert Memorial Chapel, the Queen was interned beside Prince Albert in the Royal Mausoleum, Frogmore.
