Photograph of Evelyn Cavendish, the Duchess of Devonshire in a half length portrait, facing three-quarters to the right. She wears a velvet dress open at the neck with lace decoration together with a pearl necklace. Signed by the sitter underneath the photograph.
The Duchess of Devonshire was the daughter of Henry Petty-Fitzmaurice, the 5th Marquess of Lansdowne. On the 30th July 1892, she married Victor Cavendish who succeeded his uncle as the 9th Duke of Devonshire. She served as Mistress of the Robes to Queen Mary from 1910-16. -
