Glass sided gilt petit sonnerie carriage clock in a brown leather carrying case. The clock is of gilt metal with glass panels and a carrying handle, moulded plinth. The French 8 day rack striking clock has a going barrel movement and a replacement Swiss lever escapement. The enamel dial has the 12 hours represented in Roman numerals and 5 minute intervals in arabic numbers, blued steel shaped hands.
Provenance
Originally on HMY Britannia (Royal Cutter Yacht) (1893-1936). The clock was subsequently on the yacht's successor, HMY Britannia, launched 1953, until 1985.
