A gilt-metal desk clock, the engraved steel dial set in an upright rectangular case with canted corners, each with an applied mermaid and hippocamp; surmounted by a finial in the form of a child riding on two fish, on a plinth base, engraved with a presentation inscription. The french timepiece has a going barrel movement and a cylinder escapement. The silvered dial has the 12 hours represented by Roman numerals and blued steel spade hands.
