  • Rectangular papier maché writing box on splayed base with inclined hinged lid. Front with three divisions for pen tray, glue pot and inkwell. Decorated in gold with foliate motifs; recessed rectangular panel of cover painted under glass with imitation jewels.
    Provenance

    Given to Lady Clarence Paget in 1852, as a wedding gift. Left to Queen Mary by her daughter, Mrs. Henry Bentinck in 1947.
