-
An engraving of Charles, Margrave of Burgau. A short half length portrait facing right, wearing a large lace ruff, armour and a pendant. The portrait sits within an oval border bearing the Latin inscription 'ILLVSTRISSIMO PRINCIPI ET DNO: D: CAROLO AB AVSTRIA. MARCHONI SACRI ROM. IMP. IN BVRGOVIA.' Surrounding this border is a Laurel wreath decorated with fruit and ribbons. Further Latin inscriptions, printed separately, can be found above and below the image. The print is one from a series of portraits created by Dominicus Custos that were published in four parts in Augsburg between 1600 and 1604.
