Horseman's broadsword; the British steel hilt, probably about 1635-40, with a pear-shaped pommel and tang button, the shellguard supports the root of the side knucklguard, all chiselled with acanthus decoration. Ray skin-covered eighteenth-century wooden grip bound with copper wire. Straight one-edgd German steel blade, dated 1654, with two fullers, etched with Classical figure.

Acquired by George III. Sent from Augusta Lodge to George IV's Armoury at Carlton House on 22 March 1822 (CH AA 3137).
Sent to Windsor Castle on 8 August 1842 and subsequently displayed in the North Corridor there (no. 984).
