Harquebusier's breastplate of ‘vestigial peascod’ fashion, formed in one piece with a narrow raised neck-opening and a short waist-flange, each side of the chest originally fitted with a mushroom-shaped stud (now missing) to receive a shoulder-strap, the neck and arm-openings formed with plain inward turns, struck with the initial ‘B’ of the London armourer Edmond Bunnion (made free 1633, presented mark 1637, died 1657) together with the helmeted ‘A’ mark used by the London Armourers’ Company after 1649/50 and the cross of St George, the government ownership mark of the time of the Commonwealth (1650–60).
