The Natural history of Carolina, Florida and the Bahama Islands. Vol. I.

After his death, Catesby’s drawings were mounted on the pages of a three-volume set of the Natural History, in place of the usual printed illustrations. These books were purchased in 1768 by George III from a London book dealer. The drawings have recently been removed from the volumes, conserved and mounted individually. This is the first volume of the Natural History, open to show Catesby’s commentary on the ivory-billed woodpecker.
