The porcupine is a nocturnal rodent still found in Central and Southern Italy, as well as in many parts of Africa. This assembly of details shows the snout, ear, front and rear paws with a claw from each, a hair and two types of quill, all at life size. Cassiano also owned a view of the whole porcupine.
