View from the Seraskier Tower
Although not an exact panorama, Bedford took a series of photographs from the top of the Seraskier Tower, also known as the Beyazıt Tower, which stands in the courtyard of Istanbul University. The sweeping views encompass the Mosque of Suleiman the Magnificent, completed in 1558, and Sultanahmet, the name of the old quarter of the city. The Topkapi Palace and Hagia Sophia can be seen, with the Golden Horn and Bosphorus Sea beyond.
