View in the Valley of Jehoshaphat [Tomb of Absalom and Tomb of Zechariah, Kidron Vallery, Jerusalem]
2 Apr 1862RCIN 2700926
There are many cemeteries and tombs on the Mount of Olives, just outside Jerusalem. It is believed this is the site where mankind will be resurrected on the Day of Judgement. The building with the conical roof was believed to be the Tomb of Absalom, the son of King David, while the structure with the pyramidal roof is called the Tomb of Zechariah, even though it is a solid, monolithic structure, containing no tomb within.
The structure with the columned façade in between the tombs contains a number of ancient burial caves.
