Canaletto occasionally produced two versions of a drawing, one in pen alone, the other with the addition of wash. The first pair record the view from the Fondamenta della Farina, west of the Molo, looking up the mouth of the Grand Canal with the dome of Santa Maria della Salute at far left. The second pair take the foreground buildings of the Fontegheto and place them in an imaginary setting, in a courtyard with a neoclassical arch beyond.
