James VII and II wrote this book to his son, and Catholic heir, James Francis Edward Stuart (later known as the Old Pretender) during his exile. He advises against mistresses, drunkenness and ambition, while instructing his son to remain steadfast in the Catholic faith. This copy belonged to James Francis Edward.
