Silver furniture

This table, mirror and pair of candelabra stands are testimony to the extravagant fashion for silver furniture at Charles II's court. Such impressive and costly furnishings emulated Louis XIV's magnificent displays of silver at the Louvre and Versailles and were an important representation of royal power.
