Williamson Diamond brooch

1953

RCIN 200146

A jonquil flower brooch set with diamonds with the calyx formed by a circular pink diamond of 23.6 carats, the finest pink diamond in existence; baguette diamonds form the stem.

The central stone of this flower-shaped brooch is considered one of the finest pink diamonds ever discovered. It was presented to Queen Elizabeth II as a wedding present in 1947 by the Canadian geologist and royalist, Dr. John Thoburn Wililamson. The queen had the stone cut and set into this brooch in 1953.
