The statue of George III on Snow Hill at the end of the Long Walk was commissioned by his son George IV to commemorate his father within sight of his favourite residence, Windsor Castle. The statue is usually referred to as the Copper Horse, although it consists of an iron frame clad in bronze. It was elevated on 24 October 1831.
