Henry Holland's work on the house
The scale of Holland’s work at Carlton House is shown by these two drawings. The 1784 plan shows much of the pre-existing building, with some of Holland’s pencil annotations for alterations. By 1794, the house had become a substantial and elegant residence. The pink sections are those planned in preparation for George’s marriage to Caroline of Brunswick.
