PHILIP RUNDELL (1746-1827)
Cup and cover
1820-21RCIN 48383
This cup seems to be associated with the coronation of George IV, perhaps used at the banquet. The finial is formed from a crown resting on a cushion and the national emblems of the wreaths. Contemporary reports of the feast relate that the King ate solely off gold plate although silver gilt is more likely, gold being reserved for only a few choice items.
