Queen Adelaide's fan

c. 1820

RCIN 25104

The guards of this fan are solid gold, decorated with amethysts and rubies, and the cipher of Queen Adelaide, consort of William IV. The wooden sticks have been gilded and decorated with mother-of-pearl and coloured foil. The leaf of the fan uses gold-coloured foil on the figures' robes, a gilt paper border along the edge, and gold-painted scenes of flora and fauna along the top.
