Pitt proposed a regency with firm restrictions on 16 January. Here, the Prince is shown as a child, with a wheeled walking frame beside him. He leans towards a crown but is restrained by Pitt, who pulls on leading ribbons. The Prince’s cronies Fox, Burke and Sheridan play marbles for the crown. Shown as an innocent caught between two conflicting parties, the print makes the damaging claim that the Prince is too weak to control factional interests.
Probably purchased by Queen Victoria, 1854
