The Last Drop.

5 Apr 1811

RCIN 810843

Rowlandson produced many lively prints satirizing everyday life, among them this one of a gluttonous man about to be struck down by a gleeful, skeletal Death. ‘Usquebaugh’, inscribed on one of the bottles on the floor, is Gaelic for whiskey. Rowlandson copied this print from one published by Matthew and Mary Darly in 1773. Cat. 84
