THOMAS ROWLANDSON (1757-1827)
A runaway carriage
1 Nov 1793RCIN 810454
Although the carriages, figures and animals have been etched by Rowlandson, the landscape in this print has been added later in pencil and crudely coloured. Rowlandson made a number of prints for amateur artists to copy and colour, but this is an ordinary satirical print which has been used as a colouring exercise.
Probably purchased by Queen Victoria, 1854
