2 June 1953

RCIN 2814297

The coronation ceremony took place in Westminster Abbey and Prince Charles was one of over 8,000 who attended the service. Afterwards, the Royal Family returned to Buckingham Palace where The Queen appeared on the balcony six times, to huge crowds waiting below. The first photograph shows one of these appearances with Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Princess Anne, while the second shows the family assembled in the Throne Room.
