LEONARDO DA VINCI (VINCI 1452-AMBOISE 1519)
Recto: Studies for an equestrian monument. Verso: Studies for an equestrian monument
c.1517-18RCIN 912344
Recto: a study of a horse, full length, moving in proflle to the right, and two studies of horses moving to the right, seen in three-quarter view from the rear. Verso: a study of a horse in profile to the left, and an equestrian figure riding in profile to the right; the rider has his right arm outstretched behind, and a fluttering cloak. These are probably studies for an undocumented French monument.
Catherine-wheel, surmounted by three flowers, resembling Briquet 13411, but without the B
stamp, ER VII, crowned, in oval: Lugt 901
