LEONARDO DA VINCI (VINCI 1452-AMBOISE 1519)
Recto: Cavalry skirmishes. Verso: Cavalry skirmishes
c.1503-4RCIN 912338
Leonardo rapidly sketches possible motifs for the Battle of Anghiari. The charcoal is heavily rubbed, but we can make out soldiers running and brandishing weapons, and horses galloping, leaping or rearing while their riders trade blows.
