LEONARDO DA VINCI (VINCI 1452-AMBOISE 1519)
The muscles and tendons of the lower leg and foot
c.1510-11RCIN 919017
This large sheet explains the action of the muscles and tendons of the lower leg, which cause the movements of the foot. In the notes, running to some 1,200 words, Leonardo repeatedly reminds himself to draw the bones separately from all sides, and then joined, then clothed with muscle, then with the muscles rendered as threads to convey their multilayered structure, and so on.
