Carriage driving events
Prince Philip has participated in Carriage Driving Events since 1973, representing Great Britain on a number of occasions. The carriage shown above is a one-eighth model of his ‘Bennington Phaeton’. It was made as a collaborative project by thirteen members of the Guild of Model Wheelwrights, of which the Duke is Patron, and was presented to him by the guild on 26 February 2009.
The International Driving Grand Prix Trophy was awarded to the Duke by The Queen in 1982. It is composed of two parcel gilt cups in the shape of a horse’s head.
