The XMM (X-ray Multi Mirror) satellite is Europe’s largest scientific satellite. The University of Leicester developed an ultra-sensitive EPIC X-ray camera for the satellite, which Prince Philip was shown when he visited the Space Research Centre at the University in February 1999. The model of the XMM satellite was presented by the European Space Agency on this occasion.
