The Duke of Edinburgh's Award First Expedition Test

In 1956 Prince Philip founded a scheme to promote the personal development of young people through various activities, including taking part in an expedition. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme has since had over 6 million participants in more than 125 countries. This photograph shows those involved in the first expedition test which took place in 1957 based at Woodrow High House in Buckinghamshire
