Facsimile of Victoria Cross metal

1982

RCIN 79697

The Victoria Cross was (and still is) cast from the bronze of cannon captured in the Crimean war. The metal is supplied when required to Hancocks and Co., the makers of the Victoria Cross, by the Central Ordnance Depot, Donnington. This fragment of the bronze was presented to HM The Queen on her visit to Donnington on 4 June 1982.
