The ‘Charge of the Light Brigade’ was immortalised by the Poet Laureate, Alfred Tennyson. His poem was written as a response to the report in The Times, only a few weeks after the battle had taken place. The poem was first published in the Examiner on 9 December 1854. The famous line ‘Some one had blunder’d’ was omitted from the poem in the 1855 publication of Maud and Other Poems, after ‘criticism of two or three London friends’, but it was reinstated in the 1861 edition.
