Prince Albert returned to Germany after the engagement to put his affairs in order. In January 1840 he left for England once more, entering the port of Dover three days before the wedding. In this print his face is seen peering out of the carriage window as he travels towards London. On the day of Prince Albert’s arrival, Queen Victoria granted him the title of Royal Highness.
