Ramnagar Palace workbox
RCIN 42378
The Prince visited many palaces, places of worship and historical monuments, admiring the wide range of architectural styles he saw. Models of buildings in India were popular in the late nineteenth century and were often presented as gifts by Indian rulers to visiting dignitaries.
This model of the seventeenth century Ramnagar Palace in Benares, which the Prince visited, opens up to reveal a workbox.
