Pair of rosewater sprinklers
c.1870-75RCIN 11475
The decoration of these rosewater sprinklers is inspired by the tale of the two 12th century competing goldsmiths in Patan, Gujarat. One goldsmith produced a fish out of gold that could float in water. His opponent produced a crane that pecked and drowned the gold fish and was declared the winner.
