GIOVANNI BATTISTA BEINASCHI (1636-88)

A prophet

c.1680

RCIN 906114

The construction of the dome of Santi Apostoli in Naples was completed only in 1680, long after Giovanni Lanfranco had finished his cycle of paintings in the body of the church (see no. 132). Over the next two years Beinaschi filled the vault of the dome with a fresco of Paradise. This is a study for one of the prophets in the painting.
