FRANÇOIS-JUSTIN VULLIAMY (1712-98)
Bracket clock
circa 1750RCIN 2872
This clock is highly characteristic of eighteenth-century style and this model was produced in considerable numbers. The black-painted case was intended to imitate ebony. The principal dial consists of Roman hour chapters and Arabic minute chapters while the two subsidiary dials comprise the alarm and the strike/ silent mechanism. English clock-making in the eighteenth century reached a particularly high standard of accuracy.
