Sir Henry Guildford (1489 –1532) was one of Henry VIII’s closest friends and a senior figure at court. In his role as Master of the Revels he worked with Holbein, who designed decorations for royal events. This drawing is a study from the life for the painting of Guildford which is also in the Royal Collection.
