LOUIS HAGHE (1806-85)

A scene from Macbeth

1853

RCIN 913000

In addition to his record of the staging of the Windsor Macbeth (above), Haghe was asked to produce three drawings showing scenes from the play as tableaux. This watercolour, on unusually rough paper, shows Charles Kean as Macbeth, with Mr Graham as Banquo, meeting the three witches on the heath. The Queen was particularly enthusiastic about Kean’s staging of this scene.
