WILLIAM WYLD (1806-89)

St George’s Hall, Liverpool

dated 1852

RCIN 920219

The royal family visited Liverpool in October 1851 and particularly admired St George’s Hall, housing the assize court and concert hall. The colourful interiors may have inspired the decoration of the Ballroom at Buckingham Palace a few years later. William Wyld, British artist based in France, visited Liverpool in 1852 to make this record.

Commissioned by Queen Victoria for her Souvenir Album
