The Great Exhibition: The Stained Glass Gallery
dated 1852RCIN 919941
In order to display the stained glass at the Exhibition, heavy black cloths were used to block out light from the spaces between the exhibits. The glass was greatly praised, especially that by the Newcastle-upon-Tyne firm of John Gibson, which the Art Journal ‘much admired’ as ‘gorgeous, yet simple and unpretending’.
