On 15 June 1858 Victoria and Albert visited Aston Hall. As the Queen recorded in her journal, the magnificent Jacobean house was to be ‘converted into a People’s Museum & Park’. The royal couple had lunch in the hall and met members of the public before the park was declared open. Leitch’s view reflects the purpose of the visit, as he shows people enjoying the grounds.
