SIR DAVID YOUNG CAMERON (1865-1945)

The carse of Stirling

c.1925-30

RCIN 453575

The painter, watercolourist and etcher, David Young Cameron, studied at both the Glasgow and Edinburgh Schools of Art. In 1899 he moved to Kippen, a small village near Stirling, where he lived for the rest of his life. This view is one of the many watercolours and paintings he made of his local landscape. The combination of linear detail and areas of rich colour surrounded by paler wash is characteristic of Cameron’s watercolour technique.
