Charles X was the brother of the last pre -Revolutionary French King, Louis XVI (1754 –1793). He succeeded his brother, Louis XVIII (1755 –1824) in 1824 but abdicated during the 1830 Revolution. He spent his exile at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh.
