'L'homme de la paix'
2008RCIN 183391
This bronze is a reduction of a two-metre high sculpture celebrating a decade of efforts towards friendship and global accord. In 2008, Swiss-Canadian artist Jean-Daniel Rohrer was commissioned by the city of Montreal to create a sculpture marking the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Protocol for Sustainable World Peace. Called L’homme de la paix (‘the man of peace’), it was given by Montreal to the city of Hiroshima in Japan, where it now stands at the International Convention Centre. One hundred 22 cm-high reductions were also cast, each of them intended for distinguished guests of the city of Montreal.
This example was presented to King Charles III when Prince of Wales by Gérald Tremblay, Mayor of Montreal, in Canada, 2009.
