On 28 October 1915 King George V suffered a riding accident while reviewing troops of the Royal Flying Corps near Bethune in northern France. This presentation box contains a cottage loaf of bread and three post cards (depicting a flying red ensign, a portrait of King George V and the music and lyrics to the British National Anthem). The gift was given to the King after his accident 'to convey prayerful wishes for speedy recovery of health from all the Russian Brotherhood of Temperance'.
