Following the hugely successful exhibition of the Prince’s gifts throughout Britain and parts of Europe, the gifts were returned to the Prince of Wales. The Prince had the library at Marlborough House, his London residence, converted into what was called the ‘Indian Room’ to display a selection of his gifts from the tour. Built-in cabinets were made by cabinetmakers Holland and Sons, and fitted with electric lights to showcase the gifts. Indian textiles bought by the Prince during the tour were used as soft furnishings.
